When Calls the Heart Blog Party! ~ Day 4

Hi everyone! I've been having so much fun with this When Calls the Heart blog party!! :) The fun will continue on through Saturday! Today's post is a little different. Faith and I are doing a guest post on each others blogs about our favorite couples from When Calls the Heart.

Alright! Sit back and enjoy reading about Faith's favorite couples!
-------------

Hello everyone! :) I'm so tickled to be guest-posting here at Rebekah's lovely blog as part of our When Calls the Heart week!! It's been a lot of fun so far and I can't wait to see what the rest of the week holds. :D

Okay, on to the post! Today I'll be talking about my favorite couples from these lovely TV series. If you're a fellow WCTH fan (or 'Hearties', as we sometimes call ourselves ;)), you know they're SO MANY cute couples on the show. Here goes! :D

~ Jack and Elizabeth ~

These two are definitely the best-known couple of When Calls the Heart. I mean, I knew who Jack and Elizabeth were before I even started watching the show! (Yes, I was such a poor un-enlightened soul...)
From their first meeting in episode one, Jack and Elizabeth's relationship has been rocky. Jack resented her because her father played a major role in getting him sent out there to "breath coal dust". Then, once they're on better terms, that Billy Hamilton scoundrel showed up and knocked down the little bit of a relationship they had. They recover from that in the second half of season one though. Then just when I think things are going so well...season two comes along, sending them off to the city where characters such as Charles Kensington and Nurse Faith Carter cause riffs between them.
After that horrendous proposal from Charles at the end of season two, I'm so glad that Jack and Elizabeth's relationship was experiencing much smoother sailing in season three. Some bumps in the road, sure, but I'm hoping that Elizabeth catching the bride's bouquet on Hearts in Question was a sign of things to come. :)

~ Abigail and Bill ~

Yeah, I know, they're not a couple anymore. But when they were a couple, I loved them together and they were definitely a favorite. *nods*
When Bill originally appeared on the show (end of season one, I believe it was) to investigate the mine disaster, I liked him almost immediately. As Abigail relayed to him the heartbreaking tale of how her husband, son, and so many other's were killed in the coal mine, Bill is always kind and considerate of her. I was quite pleased with the way their relationship progressed.
But then, of course, it comes out that he has a wife and child. *sigh* Bill, you really should've just told Abigail the truth when she found the picture. It certainly would've simplified things.
But it didn't happen that way. Abigail was confronted by Nora (Bill's wife/ex-wife/whatever-you-wanna-call-her) and their relationship was over from there (obviously).
Bill has remained a WCTH character, which I'm glad for. Too often when things like this happen on TV shows, a character just 'leaves' and never returns. I'm glad that didn't happen with Bill...because I still like him as a character. ;)
Bill is currently seeing Dottie Ramsey and I'm not sure I like that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't trust her... ;) And now Abigail is courting Frank so I'm anxious to see where that goes in season four. ^_^

~ Lee and Rosemary ~

*happy sigh* What would a couples post be without the newlyweds?!
I'll be the first to admit that, when Rosemary first appeared on the show I did not like her. AT ALL. She was in town to find her ex-fiancé (a certain Mountie we all know and love...) and I did not appreciate the way she was coming between Elizabeth and Jack. Thankfully, her feelings were one-sided.
After Lee appeared on the show, I began to like Rosemary much more. This motorcycle-driving lumberjack was the perfect distraction to get Miss Actress' eyes off of Mr. Constable.
They fell in love and are SUCH an adorable couple. I love the way they can laugh and have fun together, but work together too. How Lee often gives Rosemary her way is cute too. ;) One of my favorite Lee/Rosemary moments is when they beat Gowen in poker. ;)
I was seriously so, SO happy when Lee proposed to Rosemary on the church steps. Their wedding was so wonderful and I can't wait to see them as newlyweds in season four. :D

Another couple who's relationship I'm looking forward to seeing progress in season four is Jesse Flynn and Clara Stanton. But I'll hush for now. ;)

Hope y'all enjoyed! Don't forget to hop over to my blog for a guest post by Rebekah. :)

That was so much fun, Faith!!! :D

I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I did!! You can read about my favorite couples on Faith's blog!

When Calls the Heart Blog Party! ~ Day 3

I hope everyone is having a lovely day! Are you enjoying this When Calls the Heart week? I sure am!!!
Today I am going to be doing character bios on some of my favorite characters and also on a couple not so favorites. ;)

Elizabeth Thatcher:
Elizabeth Thatcher is a favorite of mine. Her and the constable are so cute together. ;)
She is Hope Valley's school teacher and a good one at that. She's always so kind to her students. I've definitely liked Elizabeth from the beginning. It was fun seeing her show up in town as a definite city girl and how she's changed since she's now been living on the frontier for a while. :)

Jack Thornton:
Jack is such a great guy! He is the constable of Hope Valley. He’s kind and dependable. Him and Elizabeth make such a cute couple. :) But he is so slow when it comes to a certain thing! “Jack, just ask her!”
I look forward to seeing his and Elizabeth’s relationship progress (hopefully to a new level) in season 4.

Abigail Stanton:
Abigail is such a sweet lady. She runs a café and is raising a child, yet she still takes the time to help the people of Hope Valley. She is definitely one of my favorite characters.

Frank Hogan:
Frank Hogan is another great guy! He’s the pastor of Hope Valley and currently he and Abigail are courting. When Frank showed up in town he was a bit mysterious about certain things. Then when his past became exposed, I couldn’t believe it. I mean I liked Bill Avery and Abigail, but that didn’t work out, so I was really liking Frank and Abigail then something happened again! Well, I’m definitely glad things worked out because I really do like Frank.

Rosemary LeVeaux Coulter:
Rosemary LeVeaux. She is definitely a character. I absolutely did not like her when she showed up in the end of season 1, but she definitely grew on me. Now she is one of my favorites! She is so funny and very quotable. ;)

Lee Coulter:
When Lee first showed up in Hope Valley in season 2 I wasn't quite sure what to think of him. I liked him but was wondering what he was up too. He is definitely a favorite now!
He provided a lot of jobs for the men of Hope Valley after the mine was shut down and seeing him and Rosemary together is so fun. They are definitely made for each other.

Bill Avery:
I don’t even know what to think about Bill Avery. I really liked him at first. He and Abigail seemed like the perfect couple. Then his wife showed up! Wow! That was definitely a twist I was not expecting. Now Abigail and he are nothing more then business partners. So I went from liking him to not liking him. Then I was suspicious, then I sort of liked him. I’ve finally decided I do like him, but he is a bit confusing.

Henry Gowen:
Mr. Gowen is the town's mayor and the least liked person in town. He’s definitely not very kind, but there was almost a bit of a tender side to him that came out in the middle of season 3 when he was with Nora Avery. It was very strange to see him like that, but, of course, it wasn’t showed to anyone else.
Mr. Gowen is definitely not a favorite of many people, but I think he’s a good addition to the show. I mean, every small town has to have that bad guy. ;)

Faith Carter:
Faith is the new nurse in Hope Valley. She first came onto the show in season 2 when she worked as a nurse in Hamilton. I didn’t like her a whole lot at first. I mean, she was nice and all, but Jack and Elizabeth are just meant for each other!
When she showed up in Hope Valley I wasn’t too thrilled, but I did breath a sigh of relief when I found out that she had a fiancé. ;) I was a bit worried when she no longer had one, but she really doesn’t seem like the type to push between Jack and Elizabeth. Plus Elizabeth and Faith are now kind of becoming friends.

Clara Stanton:
Clara is a nice, sweet, young lady. I was super surprised at first when I found out that she is Abigail’s daughter-in-law. I’m glad that she is living with Abigail in Hope Valley now.

Charlotte Thornton:
Charlotte is Jacks mom. Wow! I was so surprised by her. She’s nothing like I would’ve picture Jack’s mom to be like, but I do like her. She’s definitely an interesting character.

Jesse Flynn:
Jesse Flynn showed up in town to make trouble for Frank. He was trying to get Frank to go back to his old ways and the gang, but that didn’t exactly work out, thankfully.
Jesse is spending a lot of time with Clara Stanton and there’s a little romance going on between them.

Cody Hastings:
At first I didn’t really like Cody. He was a bit bratty and all, but he eventually grew on me and I was sad at the possibility of him leaving.

Rip:
We can’t forget “good ol’ Rip”. This is the dog that Jack found and took in. Rip’s a cute thing and I loved his and Jack’s ‘heart-to-heart talk’ in season 3.

Who is your favorite character?

When Calls the Heart Blog Party! ~ Day 2

Happy Valentine's Day!! 💕 I hope you all have a fun, special day!

We love, because He first loved us. ~1 John 4:19 NASB

Welcome to day 2 of the When Calls the Heart blog party!! I am super excited!! Today I will be doing a review/overview of the first episode of season 3, It Begins With Heart.

--If you haven't seen this episode or the season finale of season 2, there will be spoilers just to let you know. --

It Begins With Heart is so good. I love how season 3 starts off. Okay, so season 2 ended with that shocking, horrible, proposal.

~So season 3 starts off a little rocky with some tension between Jack and Elizabeth. Thankfully things get resolved fairly quickly.

~We know that Pastor Frank Hogan has some kind of background that he doesn't want to share just yet. He told Abigail that he had been shot before and hadn't always worked on the right side of the law, but didn't go into detail. Well, his past is about to get exposed.

~Jesse Flynn comes to town looking for his "friend" and stirs up some trouble for Frank. Frank used to be in a gang with Jesse and some others, but since then has changed. Jesse is in town to try and lure him back.

~Rosemary wins a writing contest and a reporter is coming to town to do a report about New Years Eve on the Frontier. Little did Rosemary know that she had to be married to enter the contest. Let's just say that things get quite interesting and funny. ;)

"Big smiles, Mr. LeVeaux. Just like your wedding."

~Then two siblings, Cody and Becky, come to stay with Abigail.

~The town is getting reading for all the festivities. With, of course, Rosemary in charge. ;)

~Bill is in jail because of the counterfeit stuff. Inspector Houston comes to town and things get bad. Thankfully everything gets cleared up.

~Elizabeth's class is also doing their part in the New Year celebration. A new student, Laura Campbell, is having a hard time and Elizabeth reaches out to her and also tries to get her to engage in the fun.

~Of course, you can't have a New Years celebration without fireworks at midnight! :)

Have you seen this episode? What was your favorite part of it?

When Calls the Heart Blog Party! ~ Day 1

A couple weeks ago I said that I had some really fun posts coming up. Well, today is the start of those posts. This week, today through Saturday, my friend Faith and I are hosting a When Calls the Heart blog party!! I am just so excited for this week of fun!

-Thank you to Faith for making this lovely graphic-

When Calls the Heart is my most favorite thing to watch! If you haven't seen When Calls the Heart before then I highly recommend that you give it a try!
Faith and I went together and made some questions that we're each going to answer on our blogs. We'd like to invite you all to join us if you'd like! Feel free to answer the questions on your blog or do any When Calls the Heart related post.

Alright! Now on to the questions and my answers:

1. What's your favorite season of When Calls the Heart?
Well, I really love them all, but I'd have to say that season 3 is my favorite. :)

2. Who is your favorite character and why?
This is such a hard question! I have so many favorites, so I'm just going to name one. Lee Coulter. Lee first came onto the show in season 2. I just really like him. He owns the sawmill that provides a lot of jobs for the people of Hope Valley. Also, Lee and Rosemary are one of the cutest couples! :)

3. Who is your least favorite character and why?
My least favorite character is definitely Charles Kensington. So far he has only been in season 2 (and I hope it stays that way), but he left a bad impression on me. I've actually seen him in some other movies and he has never redeemed himself.

4. When did you first start watching When Calls the Heart?
I started watching When Calls the Heart in June of 2014. I liked it right away. Since then I've re-watched all the episodes numerous times. ;)

5. Do you have a favorite couple from the show? If so, who and why are they your favorites?
Yes! I actually have three favorite couples! I like all three of these couples just because they are such cute couples and they just fit each other so well! I won't say anymore about them just yet though, because I have a post coming up on them soon. ;)
So, my three favorites are:

-Jack and Elizabeth

-Frank and Abigail

-Lee and Rosemary

6. Do you have a favorite quote from the show?
I find When Calls the Heart to be pretty quotable. One of my favorites is from season 3, the first episode: It Begins With Heart.
Rosemary is giving Lee a list of the things she wants him to do and when she gives him her list he says:

I think that is so hilarious and I've actually used this quote before. ;) One time I was going to a used book sale and my brother wanted to go but couldn't make it so I told him to give me a list and I'd look for the books for him. Well, the list had quite a few books on it so I couldn't pass up the opportunity so I said, "This is not a list, Jonathan. This is the Magna Carta!"

7. What are your thoughts on Rosemary LeVeaux? Did you like her right away or did she grow on you?
When Rosemary first showed up in town in the end of season 1 I did NOT like her at all!! She was so annoying and was coming between Jack and Elizabeth. I so wanted her to leave. Then I wasn't too happy when she was back for season 2, but now I'm glad that she was still around. I really like her now. So, I guess she grew on me. ;)

8. Have you read the When Calls the Heart book series?
I have read some. I've read the first 3 books in the Canadian West series (When Calls the Heart, When Comes the Spring, and When Breaks the Dawn). I really hope to finish the series soon.

9. Was there anything in season 3 that surprised you? (characters, plots, etc…)
Yes! A few things actually. Some things were:
-Frank's past. I was totally not expecting that.
-Jack's mom, Charlotte Thornton. Wow! I was super surprised by that character.

10. What do you foresee happening in season 4? (Be creative and as detailed as you like :))
Oh, I don't know! I'm hoping that Jack will propose to Elizabeth. I'm not getting my hopes too high though. That man sure likes to take his time.

Have you seen When Calls the Heart before? If not, do you think you'll check it out?

I'll have a new When Calls the Heart related post up each day through Saturday. Faith will too. Don't forget to check out her blog and please check back for more fun on both our blogs tomorrow!

An Appetite for Love // Movie Review

About the Movie:
Mina has everything going for her — a boyfriend who has meticulously planned out their lives and a great job with International Corporate Brands. But her world is turned upside down when work sends her to her hometown in Tennessee where she must convince an old, stubborn restaurant owner to sell his property. There is just one problem – the restaurant is now owned by her ex-boyfriend, Clay, who claims he will never sell. He resists her negotiations every step of the way, and all the while sparks fly.

An Appetite for Love is a fun, Valentine's Day movie. It wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it would be, but it was still pretty good. The story-line was pretty good as well as the characters. Although I didn't really like the main lady for most of the movie.

I give this movie 8 out of 10 R's

Love Finds You in Valentine, Nebraska // Book Review

About the Book:
What can a California girl do with a few dusty acres of land in rural Nebraska? So Kennedy Blaine wonders after she inherits a ranch in the small, western-style town of Valentine, Nebraska. As Kennedy makes arrangements to sell the property, she finds herself drawn to the ranch and to its attractive manager, Derek Sterling. She decides to spend the summer in her ancestral home and reconnect with family members. But soon Kennedy is subjected to harassment by someone who clearly wants her to leave Valentine. Depending on God’s protection and Derek’s assistance, she sets out to discover who is behind the offenses. But when her search reveals painful details about her family and raises questions about Derek’s own past, will Kennedy still want to know the truth?

Love Finds You in Valentine, Nebraska is an enjoyable book. It's also a modern western.
It is a sweet book. There is also a movie that is based off of the book. It is good as well. I usually like either the book or the movie better, but in this case I enjoyed both. Although they are a bit different from each other.

I give this book 8 out of 10 R's
