The Earliest Memory Tag

Faith from Stories by Firefly tagged me for this fun tag. It was a lot of fun going down memory lane. :) Here are the questions and my answers.

1. What is your earliest memory?
When I was 3 my family and I went to a family reunion in Illinois. I remember that my two older cousins had these really nice, expensive dolls that I loved. I really wanted one too, but I wasn't quite old enough. But my cousins were really sweet and let me carry around their dolls.

2. What is your earliest memory of a birthday?
My earliest memory of a birthday was when I turned 6. My mom made me my own little cake. There was a big cake for everyone else, but I got my own special one. I was so excited.
Another memory of a birthday was when I turned seven. One day when my mom and I were at the store I saw in the store bakery this cake with tie-dye frosting and Hello Kitty decorations on top. I wanted that cake so bad. Well, on my birthday my mom and I went to go pick it up. I was so excited. It looked really cool, but it did not taste the best. It was a white cake and I absolutely don't like white cake. But it was still really fun.

3. What is your earliest memory of a food?
When I was at that family reunion I mentioned before, my grandma gave my siblings, cousins, and I something that I always called candy lipstick. It was a Smarties type candy that was in this colored little container that looked somewhat like a chap-stick bottle. I thought it was really good and lots of fun.

4. What is your earliest memory of a gathering?
My earliest memory of a gathering was the family reunion in Illinois when I was 3.

5. What is your earliest memory of family?
One day when I was maybe 5 my dad, my siblings, and I went over to my granny's house to visit. When we got home later that afternoon we went into our backyard and there was my mom and her aunt and uncle visiting together. I remember being really surprised to see them.
I didn't know this until later, but not only was I surprised to see them so were my parents! My great aunt and uncle have a habit of coming to visit with only a couple hour notice. :) Well, I don't remember a lot about their visit except that my uncle played outside for quite awhile with my sister and I. I don't know where my brothers were, but the two of us had a bunch of fun having our uncle all to ourselves.

6. What is your favorite memory?
My mom told me on a Friday afternoon that the following Friday I would start violin lessons. I was 7 and it seemed like that week lasted forever. I was super excited. :)

7. What is your earliest memory of a gift?
When I was 5 and I got these dolls for Christmas. I had wanted them for a while and was so happy when I opened them up that morning. The dolls were called the two cute twins. It was a girl and a boy and they came with a stroller and some other accessories, they could also talk.

8. What is your earliest memory of an embarrassment?
The earliest embarrassment that I can remember was when I was 12. I was at my cousins bridal shower. It was outside and there were tables and those white, plastic, lawn chairs set up all over the yard. The backyard was on a bit of a hill. Well, we were all eating lunch and I was sitting at a table with my mom, my aunt, and one of my cousins. We were talking and enjoying the afternoon. I leaned back slightly in my chair and before I knew what was happing I tipped over backwards and was on the ground. I was wearing a skirt and as I fell my feet went right up in the air. Well, as soon as I fell I got up quickly off the ground, set my chair upright and sat back down. It was really embarrassing and I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. My aunt tried to lighten the mood by saying that my feet went up into the air like a graceful ballerina, but I didn't think so.

9. What is your earliest memory of when you were scared?
When I was 5  1/2 my family and I went on vacation to the Oregon coast. One day while we were there we went to visit this one lighthouse. Before we went on the tour we went into the information center next to the lighthouse and looked around. They were showing a video about the lighthouse and its history so we all sat down to watch it. The person on the movie started telling this legend about the lighthouse. It was some ghost story about a girl who disappeared in the lighthouse. I was so scared. I thought that the story was actually true and to make things scarier we left with a tour guide to go into the lighthouse. That story scared me for a long time after that.

10. What is your earliest memory of a camp?
When I was 9 my family and I went to the Oregon coast and stayed in a yurt. It was so much fun. I remember roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and playing on the beach.

11. How young were you when you received Christ? (optional)
I was 9 years old.
