Hymns in the Hills Blog Tour

Author Rebekah Morris has released a new book! I haven't read this one yet, but I'm super excited to!

Today I am here doing a book spotlight!

About the Book:
“Could you not teach them what you do know?”

Separated from her parents and sent to live with unknown relatives for the summer, Belle Standish clings hard to the promises found in her dear Bible and her beloved hymns. As she grows to love her newly discovered family, she finds much work to be done for her Lord in this neglected field.

But when danger threatens those she loves, Belle's faith and courage are tested in ways she never imagined. Will God's promises hold true even in the midst of the storm? And what can she possibly accomplish with just her one little light?

You can grab yourself a copy of Hymns in the Hills on Amazon or add it on Goodreads.

Mr. Brownsfield Releases!

Jonathan Hangstefer's newest book, Mr. Brownsfield, releases today!
Mr. Brownsfield is a YA Urban fantasy book. It's really good (and that's coming from someone who doesn't like fantasy!). I'll be reviewing it here on the blog soon!

About the Book:
Mr. Brownsfield has never seen a ghost before and he surely hasn't used magic. Especially not the kind real magicians use, but that's about to change.

On a not so normal day, Mr. Brownsfield discovers his house is built on the entrance to a secret society of magicians. These are not your typical slight of hand illusionists though.

The magicians need someone to help them locate the second entrance to their society. The only logical choice is Mr. Brownsfield. Finding the door is harder than it sounds and a lot more dangerous.

About the Author:

Jonathan Hangstefer is the author of Royal Fire. He lives in Idaho where they grow more than potatoes. He writes wild stories and experiments too much with coffee. When he's not writing, you can find him running and spending time with family and friends.

You can follow Jonathan on: Instagram, Goodreads, and his blog.

You can purchase Mr. Brownsfield on Amazon in kindle and paperback!

For today only Royal Fire is free on kindle on Amazon!

Becoming Us // Book Review

About the Book:
Five young women, including beloved Gunn characters Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen, gather for a simple Christmas party and soon become unlikely best friends. Told from the viewpoint of Emily, a timid young mom going through a difficult season of life, the regular gatherings provide the much needed community she's longed for. As the women begin sharing their life stories in Becoming Us they are endeared to each other and find ways to challenge, encourage, and help each other become the nurturing mothers they wished they'd had when they were growing up. They see themselves as Haven Makers and unite to be remembered for what they do and not for what was done to them.

Becoming Us is a great book! I really enjoyed it. I was so excited when I heard about this book because Robin Jones Gunn’s other character, Christy Miller, is in this book. Sierra Jensen is as well and it was fun seeing them again, getting to know Jennalyn better, and meeting Emily and Tess. Emily is the main character in this book and it’s a story about her life. I loved her friendship with the other four ladies and their talks and get togethers always made me smile. On the front cover there is an endorsement about the book from Alyssa Bethke and it says, “You will feel like you’re a part of this sweet circle of friends—welcomed and known.” I definitely felt like that! I loved the whole book, but I especially loved the friendship aspect of the book. It was so sweet and encouraging.
Whether you’ve read Robin Jones Gunn’s beloved Christy Miller series or not, this is a fun one. It was great hearing about old characters and reconnecting with them, but if this is your first Robin Jones Gunn book it will all still make sense and not be confusing.
I’d definitely recommend this book to fans of the Christ Miller books. There is little bit of mature content, but not much. I wouldn’t say the content is anymore then what you’d read in the Christy & Todd: the Married Years or the Baby Years.

I give this book 9 R's out of 10

The Tinderbox // Book Review

From the Back Cover:
With her Amish parents' twentieth anniversary approaching, eighteen-year-old Sylvia Miller stumbles across a surprise--the old brass tinderbox her clockmaker father keeps in his Lancaster County shop has been left unlocked. Against her better judgment, Sylvia opens the cherished heirloom, not realizing that what she is about to discover will splinter apart her happy life.

Sylvia's bewilderment grows when her father confronts her about snooping in the box. To her amazement, the respected convert to the Old Order reacts as if he has something to hide.

Burdened by the weight of his deception, Earnest Miller decides he must reveal the details about his past to his beloved wife, Rhoda. The long-kept secret alters everything for the close-knit family, jeopardizing Earnest and Rhoda's relationship, as well as threatening Sylvia's recent engagement to the preacher's grandson.

Can the Millers find a way forward through the turmoil to a place of forgiveness and acceptance?

My Review:
Beverly Lewis has done it again! She writes such amazing books. They always keep my attention and I love them so much. The Tinderbox was no exception. It was a story of family and faith, hardship and uncertainty, community and mystery. I enjoyed it so much. This story does end at a horrible spot though so I am especially excited for September when the sequel, The Timepiece, will release! I highly recommended this book!!

I give this book 9 R's out of 10

When Calls the Heart Story Time With Gifs

If you know me at all you know that I absolutely LOVE the Hallmark TV show When Calls the Heart! When Calls the Heart is now in its 6th season. Season 6 started airing on February 24 and went for three weeks before going on a hiatus until it returned just last weekend.

So, I am extremely excited that it's back on and last week I was quite ecstatic, and that happiness carried over into today. So, I'm going to give you a bit of a little inside look into my afternoon leading up to When Calls the Heart and on into the evening. I'll be narrating and there'll be a smattering of gifs to help get the point across. 😉 (I usually don't like gifs, but I found some pretty fun ones.)
*This is a bit over exaggerated because, obviously, I like to spice up a good story.

I absolutely despise spoilers so there will be no spoilers in this post so you're safe even if you aren't caught up on the show. No need to be covering your eyes!

Let's start off with how I exactly feel about this lovely show, I think this explains my pure joy:

Last Sunday When Calls the Heart came on at 7:00p.m. (mountain time) but that week was a two night special and Monday's episode came on at 6:00. So, this week I was pretty sure that it came on at 7:00. But then approaching 6:00 this evening I realized that I wasn't sure of the time and had a slight panic attack when I thought I might miss it! I was quite desperate...

Thankfully I didn't miss anything and the episode aired at 7:00. ;)

I tried to get one of my brothers to watch the show by giving him the look. You know, the one's that's like:

Well, that look worked last week, but to no avail this week....

During the show, one of my brothers and my dad made a few of "those comments". You know, the ones like, ""For real? That wouldn't really happen!, "Oh, give me a break" and stuff like that. I was like this:
 Then like this:

Thinking that a certain character (or maybe characters 😉) was good looking, I told my family so. They disagreed with me and I was like:
Oh please!

Let's just say I really enjoyed the new episode. I was super excited after seeing the "Next week on When Calls the Heart" preview.

Woah! What a day!

I hope you enjoyed! I know this post was a little different (hehe), but you just got a glimpse into how weird I can be sometimes. 😜

 Until next time!

Flowers, Friends, and Easter Fun ~ My April Highlights

April really seemed to fly by. I just can't believe that we are already 5 months into the year. We're almost halfway through 2019! That's crazy to even think about!

~April started off with me starting back up my job with a new boss. I was super nervous about that, but my new boss is really great, and I'm enjoying my job. I work at a local deli for those of you who don't know. :)

~I had a fun evening one Friday with three friends of mine. We had a nice heart-to-heart chat, had fun playing games, and we watched what we could of season 6 of When Calls the Heart. It was their first time seeing those. (Only one more day until When Calls the Heart starts airing again!)

~I had a fun movie party with my friends. Some friends came over to my house and we watched the Hallmark movie Love in Design.

~I posted two new videos. My Life in Books Tag and Do I Have that Book?

~Easter came. We had a nice Easter day with church in the morning then dinner with my grandpa in the late afternoon.

~I put on a violin recital for my violin students. All of my students did a great job.

~The book club was fun as usual. We had a blast and now I'm preparing for the last book club of the school year.

~We have quite a few pretty flowers coming up at our place. Tulips, johnny-jump-ups, bleeding hearts, lilacs, and the irises will be blooming soon!

How was your April? What kinds of flowers are coming up at your house?
