By The Book Tag

Faith from Stories by Firefly tagged me for this fun book tag. Thanks, Faith, it was a lot of fun! :)

1. What book is on your nightstand now?
I don’t actually have any books on my nightstand right now, but the books I’m currently reading are Deny by Tricia Mingerink, Laura's Victory by Veda Boyd Jones, and Family Secrets by Catherine Marshall.

2. What was the last truly great book you read?
I really don't know. I recently read The Quieting by Suzanne Woods Fisher and it was better than I thought it would be.

3. If you could meet any writer - dead or alive - who would it be? And what would you want to know?
If I could meet any author I would want to meet Beverly Lewis. I’m not exactly sure what I would ask her, but I do know that I would love to get some of my books by her signed.

4. What books might we be surprised to find on your shelves?
Umm...I don't know. Maybe the American Girl Minute Mysteries.

5. How do you organize your personal library?
Well, on my bookshelf in my room I don't really organize it any certain way, except that my A Life of Faith and Circle C books are on the top shelf because they're my favorites. ;)
The rest of my books are downstairs on the family shelf. Those books are in alphabetical order.

 6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around yet?
Several years ago I did a summer reading program at a local bookstore and for finishing, I got to choose a book. They didn't give me a very big selection to choose from, but I ended up choosing The Silent Stranger. I still haven't read it, but I'm sure I will one day. ;)

7. Anything you feel embarrassed never to have read?
I don’t really feel embarrassed not to have read any certain book, but I can’t believe that I’ve never read all of the Little House books. When I was younger my mom read Little House in the Big Woods to me and I just re-read it, but I haven’t read the rest in the series. Although I do plan to.

8. Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you are supposed to like but didn’t?
When I was in 6th grade one of my reading books had a small part from the book Understood Betsy by Dorthy Canfield Fisher in it. That story was so fun, so when I found out that it was only a part out of a book I started looking for the book. They library didn’t have it so I didn’t read it until a couple years later when I came across the book and bought it, but it actually ended up not being all that fun. I was a little disappointed.

9. Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?
The last book I put down was The Stout-hearted Seven: Orphaned on the Oregon Trail by Neta Lohnes Frazier. It wasn’t my most favorite book and at the end there was an Indian massacre and it got to be a little too much for me at the time.

10. What kind of stories are you drawn to? Any you stay clear of?
I am drawn to Amish fiction. I really enjoy a good Amish book.
I mostly stay clear of fantasy. I prefer more “real life” stories.

11. If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?
The Bible.

12. What do you plan to read next?
I would like to read Anchor in the Storm by Sarah Sundin.

  3. Ooo, how are you liking Laura's Victory, Rebekah? *reminds self to read that one again soon*
Cool! I've never read those AG minute mysteries, but I did read Mini Mysteries 1 and 2 once. :)
*happy squeals* Oh, I just love seeing other people's bookshelves!! And I recognize many of those books too. ;) Aww, your Amish figurines are so cute! ^.^
Have you read any of the other AG mysteries? (Like The Silent Stranger?) I read one of the Julie ones loooong ago.
Oh, Rebekah, you MUST read all of the Little House books!!! When I was young we read through the whole series as a family at least twice. If Dad was the one reading, he would skim parts if he thought the clothing descriptions went on for too long. :P I also did a LHOTP unit study for 5th grade. It was fantastic. :D
Oh, I have The Stout-Hearted Seven. I've never really it either, but I've seen the movie Seven Alone which is a similar story I think? Have you saw that movie?
I want to read Anchor in the Storm soon as well! :D

Thanks for doing this tag, Rebekah! I adored reading your answers!! :-)

    2. I am enjoying “Laura’s Victory” so far. :)
The American Girl Minute Mysteries are pretty fun. ;) I’ve seen the Mini Mysteries before, but I’ve never read them.
I love seeing other peoples bookshelves too!! :D Thanks, I really like those Amish figurines. ;)
Yes, I have read some of the other AG mysteries before, several actually. I used to read those books all the time. Cool! I really liked the Julie mysteries. :)
Yes, I must! All of the Little House books are on my to read list. ;) That’s so fun that you guys read those books as a family. :) Haha, your dad didn’t enjoy all of those clothing descriptions? ;) A Little House unit study sounds like it would’ve been a ton of fun. :)
Yes, “The Stout-Hearted Seven” is actually about the the same family from Seven Alone. I have seen the movie Seven Alone. I also read the book “Seven Alone” a few years ago. It was much better than “The Stout-Hearted Seven”. ;)
I’ve been wanting to read “Anchor in the Storm” for a while now, but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. ;)

You’re welcome! Thank you so much for tagging me. Book tags are just too fun. :D I’m glad you enjoyed reading it.
Thanks so much for you sweet comment, Faith! I just love long comments, so a comment overload is fine with me. ;)

  4. Thanks for tagging me, Rebekah! Can't wait to get to this!! :D

AHHHH.....all those books look so - so - so good! :-) Really colourful too! ;)

Oh, you have to read all the Little House books! I don't think you'll regret it! They've been favourites of mine ever since I was little (although my mom made me wait a few years before I could read the last few ones in the series ;)) But they're still favourites of mine, and if I ever have children, that's what I'm reading to 'em ;)

Anchor in the Storm looks really interesting! My library doesn't have it, but I'm going to be on the lookout for it ...somewhere :D

    2. You’re welcome, Blessing! :D I can’t wait to see your answers. :)
Yes, they are all really good. :)
I’m definitely going to have to read the rest of the Little House books soon! :) I love that time period and when I was younger I had a couple prairie dresses that I always wore. :) I don’t know why I’ve never read the whole series before. ;) I have some certain books that when I hopefully have kids I want to read to them too. ;)
Yes, “Anchor in the Storm” does look really good. I’m looking forward to reading it. Oh, that’s no fun that you’re library doesn’t have it. Hopefully you’ll be able to find it somewhere.
I haven’t read “With Every Letter” yet, but I hope to soonish. ;) A friend of mine has read it though and enjoyed it. I don’t know if your library has this one or not, but “A Distant Melody” by Sarah Sundin is really good. It’s the first book in the Wings of Glory series. :)
      Thanks for commenting, Blessing! :D

Oh, the Life of Faith books are AWESOME! So are the Circle C ones. ;)
And the little house books...I love those books. Especially the last four. ;) Laura and Almanzo are just the cutest couple ever!!
Ahh, "Anchor in the Storm" is amazing, but so sad, too!! The ending is just so so bittersweet...I need the next book now to figure out if some of the things it ended on ever get worked out. ;)
So yes, you need to read it. ;)

  6. Woah. That's pretty impressive that your family's bookshelf is organized alphabetically. I do believe that would last for about twenty-four hours if we tried that with our bookshelves. :)
