March Highlights

Well, March is now over. It has been a fun but busy month. I thought I'd share a few of my highlights from this past month.

On March 5th, the Iditarod started. This was my fifth year following it. It is always a lot of fun. This year a friend and I had fun following it together. :)

A little while ago was my brother James' 14th birthday.

Some of the flowers are coming up! A few weeks ago we had crocuses and the tulips are almost up. :)

Towards the beginning of the month we got some chicks.

And I've been watching the 3rd season of When Calls the Heart. :) I'm really enjoying season 3. It's almost over though. In two weeks will be the season finale.

I also read some really good books. I read:
"Christy Miller" volume 2 by Robin Jones Gunn
"A Cousin's Prayer" by Wanda Brunstetter
"A Gown of Spanish Lace" by Janette Oke
"A Cousin's Challenge" by Wanda Brunstetter
"Through Waters Deep" by Sarah Sundin
"Dark Storm Rising" by Jesseca Wheaton

I hope everyone else had a great month! :)

He is Risen!

Happy Easter Sunday everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
Matthew 28:6  NASB

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” And they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
Luke 24:1-9  NASB

Anna's Crossing

 From the Back Cover:
On a hot day in 1737 in Rotterdam, Anna König reluctantly sets foot on the "Charming Nancy", a merchant ship that will carry her and her fellow Amish believers across the Atlantic to start a new life. As the only one in her community who can speak English, she feels compelled to go. But Anna is determined to complete this journey and return home, assuming she survives. She's heard horrific tales of ocean crossings and worse ones of what lay ahead in the New World. But fearfulness is something Anna has never known.
Ship's carpenter Bairn resents the somber people, dubbed Peculiars by the deckhands, who fill the lower deck of the "Charming Nancy". All Bairn wants to do is to put his lonely past behind him, but that irksome and lovely lass Anna and her people keep intruding on him.
Delays, storms, illness, and diminishing provisions test the mettle and patience of everyone on board. When Anna is caught in a life-threatening situation, Bairn makes a discovery that shakes his entire foundation. But has the revelation come too late?

"Anna's Crossing" had some parts in it that I didn't really like, but for the most part it was a good book.  It took me a little while to get into the story, but once I did I really enjoyed it. It was fun to see what it might've been like for the Amish when they came over to America from Germany.

I give this book 8 out of 10 R's

The Reading Iditarod

3 more days until the Iditarod starts! Are you excited? I am! :)
During the Iditarod my younger brothers and I do the reading Iditarod. The reading Iditarod is where you read a certain amount of pages based on how many miles the Iditarod is. Like this year they will be taking the northern route which is 975 miles so we would read 975 pages. It is a fun, friendly competition that we enjoy doing each year. When a musher is the first to reach a certain checkpoint they get a prize, so when we get to that same checkpoint we also get a little prize. Once we finish the race we get a free book.
(Just to clarify, this is just something we do as a family. It's not something we actually sign up to do.) :)

These are the books that I chose to read this year.
